About the artist     My name is Sivine Ung.   I was born in Cambodia, then moved to Paris in my early teenage years.    In Paris (France) I taught myself how to draw. It all started with drawing cartoons, then I found it was more interesting drawing faces.   In the long summer holidays I was always drawing. My parents had a boutique in Paris and I would make my 2 sisters pose while wewere looking after the shop.   Looking back, I realised I did a lot of portrait drawings in 1991 in France, the year I met my husband. It must have been an inspiring year.    You can see those portrait drawings in Older drawings .   When I moved to New Zealand and I became a mother (of 3 beautiful children!...), I started to draw my children. I love the look of surprise on their face, when they first see the portrait drawing.   My daughter has asked me to draw her many times already. It must be a compliment from her... You know teenagers, they love originality.   A portrait drawing ,as a gift, is  such a good idea. It shows you have originality in choosing your present. And that you really thought about it; the person is a special person to you.   A portrait drawing is a great gift. It's unique, very special, very personal.
